New broad mare at Hippios
We has been so lucky to get the chance to buy Blåbærhegnets Q-Libri NF 2111. She is an excellent mare, which Lene has been interested in buying since she was a foal. She is the full sister of another 1st class mare as well as a 1premium mare in Belgium. Q-Libri herself is a 1st class silver medal mare and she was Overall Champion at the mare election 2008.

Her sire is Hamlet´s Merick (sire Kantje´s Ronaldo) and her dam is Stegstedgårds Queen Daisy (sire Malibu II)

Danish Performance test
3 stallion passed the danish 30-days performance test. Winner in all diciplines became Soldals Brilliant (Bavian x Mister Malthe)

The stallion got the following scores in Average movement, Average jumping, Average riding abilities and total score:

A little news from Hippios
Eria (one of our breeding mares) (Mister Malthe x Odbjergs Rubin) has been at her first dressage and jumping competitions. She did it very well and took the first price in more than one of the classes. She also won the regional championship in dressage with 71,2%.

Achilleus also has been out competing in dressage. He won all his classes and also became Champion in a dressage cup.

Lundemarks Dos Mil (Mister Malthe x Stafford Hatband) has become second in the Danish National Championship in Mountain games. He also won two classes at the Danish New Forest Festival.

One wonderful summerday I took Sirius out for a little cross country training. He simply loved it and it is not the last time we have done that :o)

Returning home we went to say hello to the mares in the field. Gaia Hippios (Mister Malthe x Poseidon Hippios and fullsister of Sirius) started playing and without hesitation she started jumping some of our fenzes in the field having a great time. What a funny pony :o)

Danish Stallion Performance test
5 danish stallions entered the perfomance test the second of September. Sadly two of the stallions has become lame and have stoped the test. They will try again next year.

The 5 stallions is:

The 15th of September all who were interested could see the remaining stallion been ridden. All has emproved and did it well. The stallions were: Soldals Brilliant, Lundemarksgårds Hokus Pokus and Vestergårds Zeus.

The final test will take place the 2th of October.

Sirius and his rider Emma was on the winning team at the regional championchip in dressage. On the team was also another NF pony "Orchids Tiger Tail". Both NF ponies did it very well.

Danish NF stallion election
The last Saturday in February the Danish stallion election for NF ponies took place. Only five 3-years old and one 4-years old stallion were shown together with the four 5 years old stallion who already had passed their 30-days performance test.

Two of the 3-years old and the 4-years old stallion passed the inspection. Driftbrogårds Darth Vader sire Hamlets Merrick grandsire Pedro became best of the 3-years old and Flintdales Raider sire Kanjtes Valentjin grandsire Polsbury Popov was second. Both sires and grandsires of the stallions are Dutch bred stallions.

The 4-years old Højmarkens Joker sire Firfod Jetset grandsire Højmarkens Ikaros (bothe Danish bred) also passed the election.

All the 5-years old stallions passed the final expection. Overall Champion became the German bred Sofienhofs Maroon sire Malibu grandsire Parks Taron. Soldals Pacific Ocean sire Sirius Hippios grandsire Bavian (both Danish bred stallions) got the highest score in jumping of the day with the score 9,5. He jumped more than his own hight! He was also the only stallion who was shown in riding - he showed his really impressive movements (He also won the 4-years Championship in dressage i September with the highest score in movement).

Snow snow and more snow
Denmark is covered by a thick layer of snow. We have got more snow than the last 20 years and I and the ponies LOVE it :o)

No muddy fields, good training for the mussels when they are playing or we are riding in the snow. Of course there are also more work brining the hay to the fields, removing the snow so we can get out on the road etch. but anyway I think it has so many more good things than bad - so let it snow, let it snow, let it snow :o)

2010 is the year when the Danish New Forest association can selebrate their 50th anniversary - it is the same year our stud farm Hippios can selebrate 20 years of breeding New Forest ponies.

We want to selebrate this year and have decided to lower our prizes for covering to 1990 danish kr = 270 Euros. Our stallion will be collected for frozen seemen as well as natural covering. The cost is not including collection and transportation of semen. For all foreings mares coming to our stud farm the prize for staying at the stud farm until they are pregnant will only be 20 danish kr = 3 Euros per day.

At the Danish New-Forest Festival 2010 which is taking place the 13-15th of August, we will show a collection of our ponies and stallions both in competitions, shows by hand as well as in riding. We are planing to show a collection of off springs of Mister Malthe - hopefully up to 16-20 ponies - all together in a show with their sire.

One of the days up to the New-Forest Festival 2010 we will invite all of our friends from Denmark and all around the world to visit us at our Stud Farm wich are situated not very far from the place where the New Forest Festival will take place. We will arrange food and drinks and show some of the ponies which will not be shown at the Festival. We hope many people will join us and have fun with other New Forest people. We will of course be helpfull with arrages places to stay. More about this day will come later on.

To get some new blood for our mares as well as other danish mares, we are looking for an appoved stallion to rent for the covering season. He must be from 140-148cm. We prefer he has shown himself in the sport and / or has very good selections. Please send us a mail at mail@hippios.dk if you are interested.
