The Hippios Stud Farm is a small New Forest stud
farm outside Herfølge, a small town on Zealand in Denmark. The owners of the Hippios Stud Farm are Lene and Michael Thaulow. Lene is a veterinarian and has been riding for more than 30 years. Some of the years she has compeeded in international tree days event, a lot of years in national showjumping, dressage and cross country riding. Now she only rides the New Forest ponies, which she felt in love with because of their temper and high capacity in the riding competitions. Michael is a sales manager and first met the New Forest ponies through Lene. He is now very much in to breeding and most of all like to train the young stallions. |

Hippus Cavalier NFHR 101 |
In the breeding of New Forest ponies we try to select ponies with a very good temper, excellent movement and high jumping capacity. We want to make ponies which can be ridden by children and which can win in the big competitions. We want to breed New Forest ponies in the elegant and sporty end of the type. When the foals are taking away from the mares they are put together in loose housing system, where they are together until they are 1 years old, then they are seperated in to two groups one with mares and one with stallions. They learn to be tied up, handled ect., but they are kept together in the two groups until they are 3 years old. Neither of them are ridden until they are 4 years old. |
